Library services

The library holds a comprehensive  collection of: books, journals and large print books. Of local interest is the collection of photographs and records.

History

For some fifteen years, the Library was run by Mrs. Hamblyn from her home in Shoebridge Crescent with about 75 books taken from Country Library Van.
In 1973, the Library moved to the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Mitchell in Ngunguru Road with 635 books purchased from fund raising and the closing private collection from Regent and donations from subscribers.

The new Library building was opened on 14th December 1979. It was sited at a private property. Two years later, the Council granted a permanent site on the Ngunguru Road.

Fundraising

From 1974, fund raising has become an  annual event. The year 1975 was the start of the Raft Race Day as an annual event.
