History
There has been a library service in Waipu since the arrival of settlers from Nova Scotia in 1853. Land was deeded for a library in 1881. The library functioned until sometime prior to the Second World War.
In 1945, it was reopened, the Waipu Women’s Institute being responsible for its care. In the late 1970’s it was felt Waipu deserved a bigger hall with the result that the library was moved into a bigger room.
The Library Committee is a sub-committee of the Hall Committee consisting of 14 volunteers who attend to all functions of the library.
