We are very proud of our Mobile Library which was launched in September 2003. In many ways, the Mobile Library is similar to any of the Whangarei libraries but just on a smaller scale.

The bus is 10 metres long, 2.5 metres wide, over 3 metres high and with the books weighs just under 10 tonnes.

The bus has a wheelchair lift for ease of access - if you need to use this facility just ask the Librarian on board.

What's on board

We aim to meet your information needs no matter where you are in the Whangarei District.

The Mobile Library carries a comprehensive collection catering for adults, teens and children including a wide range of fiction and non fiction titles, pukapuka Maori, magazines, large print, talking books plus a selection of DVD's, music CDs, and Playstation games.

The Mobile Library also provides a variety of services:

  • return items borrowed from other Whangarei Libraries' branches
  • collect your requests
  • find out what is available from other libraries
  • arrange to have a Preschool Funtime session brought to your community - just ask the Mobile Library staff.
