Returning eBooks and Audiobooks Early

This page contains information about returning borrowed OverDrive eBooks and audiobooks  to Nove-L before they are due.
Updated: 23/10/2013 3:57 p.m.

Wherever you read your eBook or listen to your audiobook, it is 'due' either 7 or 14 days after you checked it out from OverDrive, depending on which option you chose at Check-Out.

They will be automatically returned to the digital library at the end of the lending period.
You can delete the files from your computer at any time, but they will still be considered 'checked out' to you for the entire check out period.

If you finish with the item sooner than the due date, you can check back some eBooks and audiobooks into OverDrive early to be eligible to check-out another eBook or audiobook.
(The maximum number of loans is 4 items).

Audiobooks

OverDrive MP3 audiobooks on using Windows computers and laptops can be returned early using the latest version of OverDrive Media Console (v3.2.2.0). Follow the link below for full instructions:

Note: Currently OverDrive Media Console for Mac does not support audiobook returns.

Audiobooks on mobile devices can be returned using OverDrive Media Console app v2.4 (or newer) for Android,  Blackberry and Windows Phone. See below for more information.

eBooks

Most OverDrive EPUB and PDF eBooks can be returned early using Adobe Digital Editions.

Open eBooks cannot be returned early.

If you are using a mobile device such as Android, iPhone/iPad, Windows and BlackBerry, EPUB eBooks can be returned using OverDrive Media Console app v2.4 (or newer).

Once you return the an eBook from your Adobe Digital Editions library, it is removed from your computer. If you have transferred it to an e-reader device it will remain there so you can continue reading it for the remaining loan period. If, however, you wait until the eBook expires, the file remains on your e-reader but becomes unreadable, so you will need to delete it.
