Alexander Street Press Music & Performing Arts
Alexander Street Press aims to provide the most comprehensive music library in streaming audio and video:
- American Music - history database that allows people to hear and feel the music from America's past.
- Classical Music - all major genres and time periods from medieval to contemporary, choral works to symphonies, operas and the avant-garde.
- Jazz - including vocal jazz, bebop, acid jazz, big band music, modern jazz, and more.
- Popular Music - including alternative, country, Christian, electronic, hip-hop, metal, punk, new age, R&B, reggae, rock, soundtracks and many more.
- World Music - contains important genres such as reggae, worldbeat, neo-traditional, world fusion, Balkanic jazz, African film, Bollywood, Arab swing and jazz, and traditional music such as Indian classical, fado, flamenco, klezmer, zydeco, gospel, gagaku and more.
- Smithsonisan Global Sound - a virtual encyclopedia of the world's musical and aural traditions.
You will need to be a Library member to access this website. Use Library card credentials panel, select Whangarei District Library from the Institution drop down list and enter your library card barcode number.
Currently access is only available within the Whangarei Libraries or Library Wi-Fi.
Alexander Street Press Classical Music Scores Library
Classical Scores Library contains over 25,000 of the most important classical music scores, manuscripts, and previously unpublished material.
The major composers’ repertoires are available across all genres, from Palestrina’s motets to Bach’s keyboard works, and from Beethoven’s string quartets to Stravinsky’s orchestral works plus first edition and autograph facsimiles of 17th century French opera, and other great works.
