We can deliver library books to you

Whangarei District Libraries provides a free, limited service for library members who are physically unable to come into the library because of medical reasons.

Our librarians will deliver books to homes for people to select. The books are later collected and returned to the library.

Who is it for

Step 1.Is this service for you?

You may be able to use this service if you have:

  • A physical inability to leave your home.
  • A condition which prevents visits to the library.
  • Extreme physical difficulty in carrying books home.

Step 2.You may not be able to use this service if you:

  • Can physically reach Whangārei Central, Kamo, Onerahi or Tikipunga Libraries, a Mobile Library stop or any of the 8 Community Libraries in the Whangārei District.
  • Have family or friends who are willing to obtain books etc. from the libraries on your behalf.
  • Have your own transport.

Step 3.Conditions of this service

  • Proof of an existing medical condition may be required (e.g. a doctor’s certificate).
  • In the case of a temporary illness/incapacity, the Book Out home delivery service may be available but only for the duration of the illness/incapacity if you fit the eligibility guidelines above
  • Spaces are limited.
